About Kinky Vegan

I started the Kinky Vegan project a while ago to provide a vegan alternative to those sextoys that usually are made out of the hides of non-humans (a.k.a. leather). After tediously searching for a suitable material I finally found Lorica. That’s a microfiber produced in Italy, which looks almost exactly like animal leather. It doesn’t only look good, it is also very sturdy, carefree (you can for example simply whash it with your laundry) and soft against the skin.

Why vegan?

Vegan means that no animal products were used in the making of the KV items. Non-humans are treated extremly cruelly*. And why? Because we can. That we can exert power over others doesn’t make it good, on the contrary I find it very objectionable to treat others cruelly.

But leather is only a byproduct of the meat industry, isn’t it?

No, it’s not. Leather makes up for about 10 – 15% of the profit of the meat industry and is therefore an important factor.
In addition to that is a lot of the leather that is sold in Europe produced in Asia, where working conditions can be dramatically worse than in Europe. The vast majority of leather is tanned using chromium-III-oxide. This itself is not harmfull to humans, but under the tanning conditions it may convert to chromium-VI-oxide which is extremely toxic, may damage genetic material, cause cauterization, etc. Workers in low-wage countries like Bangladesh, which is a major exporter of leather, usually aren’t provide with protective clothing.
